The Blade antennas within each RBA provide broadband pattern coverage approximating the pattern (directivity) performance of a λ/4 monopole. Various models are available from HF through S-Band, many of which are designed to provide unit-to-unit phase/amplitude tracking or phase/amplitude repeatability as appropriate for customer requirements.
The Integrated drive-train consists of a pair of DC motors, gear-box assembly, and Logic Module, which together allow for remote deployment/retraction of the RBA via the aircrafts +28 VDC power buss system and a simple logic interface that allows for manual or automated control of the unit. The drive-train is fully redundant in the retract-mode, ensuring covertness is maintained.
Canister depths vary from 14” to 30”, accommodating various blade lengths as needed to provided the desired frequency coverage and gain requirements. The C177 Series are suitable for installation in most aircraft types. Features of the C177 Series of Retractable Blade Antennas (RBA’s) vary to suit customer requirements, however and Interferometer/DF or CNI function can be accommodated. The C177 Series are also fully repairable, allowing for a life-of-the-aircraft installation.
