The C212-1-1 is a unique dual-band design wherein a UHF aperture and L-Band aperture are vertically arranged in such a manner that they operate essentially independent of one another. This vertical arrangement provides ideal radiation pattern performance and superior isolation versus independent apertures. The C212-1-1 provides UHF (225-450 MHz) coverage and L-Band (1.2-2.0 GHz) coverage. The UHF and L-Band apertures of the C212-1-1 are vertical arrays that are designed to provide high-gain at or near the horizon while providing omnidirectional coverage in the azimuth plane. The UHF Array consists of two dipoles phased to produce maximum gain on the horizon while the L-Band array consists of four dipoles phased to produce maximum gain five degrees above the horizon. Upon customer request, the L-Band phasing can be altered to remove the beam- tilt and focus the beam at the horizon.
The C212-1-1 is constructed of a high strength radiating element structure and is fitted to a spring assembly that allows the antenna to absorb shocks yet return to its proper vertical orientation for operation.
