The antenna is a balanced, center-fed biconical dipole which does not require a groundplane or counterpoise for operation. The zenith pattern is a figure-eight with maximum signal intensity along the horizon. The input VSWR, on 50 ohms, is less than 2.8:1 over the entire operating range.
All major components of the radiator and support structure are aluminum. The central feed and transformer sections are enclosed and sealed within a weatherproof epoxy fiberglass cover. The RF input connector is Type N receptacle recessed within the base.
