The antenna consists of a broadband radiator and matching network hermetically sealed within a high strength epoxy-fiberglass radome. The interior is foamed, thereby providing a shock resistant unit and preserving the watertight integrity even if the radome is punctured or incurs serious surface damage. Air transportation at high altitudes poses no problems with the foamed configuration.
The lower portion of the antenna consists of an aluminum base with four flexible ground radials for quick deployment. A quick-clamp socket is used for attaching the antenna to a vertical pipe support on a tower. RF input is to a Type N receptacle located in the bottom of the base. A strain relief clamp is provided for the coaxial cable.
Antenna CA-3506 is designed to comply with Environmental, Shock and Vibration requirements of MIL-E-4158 for general purpose ground equipment.
