High Dynamic Range Multicoupler Systems

The cascade of a feedforward amplifier driving a power divider requires that the intercept point of the divider be significantly high in order to retain the high intercept point of the feedforward amplifier. Normally, power dividers are considered passive devices and therefore do not produce IMD products; however, typical dividers do produce significant IMD levels compared to the performance of the high dynamic range feedforward amplifier.

High dynamic range power dividers maintain high second and third order intercept points

L3Harris has developed high dynamic range power dividers that when driven from the feedforward amplifiers maintain high second and third order intercept points (+99 dBm IIP2 typ., +45 dBm IIP3 typ.) The number of outputs from these dividers range from 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 24 and 48 ports. For some applications, it is desirable to provide unequal splitting levels. L3Harris has developed several such unequal level splits and has the capability to provide a wide range of combinations of splitting levels, number of outputs, types of connectors and a mix of impedances (50 and 75 ohms).

L3Harris provides a series of high dynamic range HF multicouplers with a wide range of variations:

  • Wide range of channels per rack unit: 1 to 12
  • Wide range of outputs per channel: 2 to 48
  • High dynamic range
  • High second and third order intercept point
  • Low noise figure
  • Various gain and gain mixes between ports
  • 50 or 75 ohm impedances or a mix within the channel outputs
  • Amplitude/phase matching of similar gain/impedance paths
  • Integrated input high pass or band pass filters
