With over 50 years of combined shipboard design engineering experience, L3Harris has extensive experience and knowledge of operation, testing, inspection, maintenance, checkout, planning and estimating in support of DoD test and evaluation (T&E) and fleet modernization programs. Projects have included developing technical data packages for several NAVSEA program offices and the Office of Naval Intelligence.
We deliver up through Level 3 drawing packages using the latest CAD technology and software applications, including AutoCAD or Solid Works. Our design and engineering experience includes the preparation of drawings supporting all disciplines of ship construction. Examples of technical data packages produced by our design and engineering group have included:
- Temporary Alteration (TEMPALT) and Ship Alteration (SHIPALT) data packages are composed of arrangement and detail drawings, cable diagrams, wiring tables, with calculations of weight, moment and stress. These packages are tailored to support submarine and surface ship upgrades and special projects.
- Land-based trainer facility drawing packages consisting of as-built drawing packages detailing HVAC, power, telecommunications and structural modification drawings.
- 3D modeling of small parts and tooling designs, as well as ships' structures, including hull, shipboard foundations, cable design and hybrid cost-saving design solutions for difficult shipboard challenges.
- Ship checks and surveys to determine existing conditions, engineering calculations, weight and moment impact assessments, hydrodynamic loading, and failure analysis of shipboard components and systems
