22nd Annual SPIE Mirror Technology Days

L3Harris is offering two separate facility tours:

• One highlighting recent progress on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope optical telescope assembly
• One featuring L3Harris' Precision Optics Facility

The Roman Space Telescope is a NASA observatory designed to settle essential questions in the areas of dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics. The telescope’s primary mirror is 2.4 meters in diameter (7.9 feet) and is the same size as the Hubble Space Telescope's primary mirror, but one-fourth the weight. Tour groups will be taken through the L3Harris facility to see the telescope fabrication progress.  

The L3Harris Precision Optics Facility has been producing exquisite spaceborne, ground-based, and high-energy optics for over 50 years. The Facility includes equipment for shaping, light-weighting, figuring and coating optics up to 3.5 meters in diameter.  

* Tours are limited to U.S. citizens, and advanced registration is required. The deadline to submit Visit Authorization Forms to L3Harris is October 14.

Welcome to the 22nd Annual Mirror Technology SBIR/STTR Workshop. During Day 1 of the technical program and exhibition, attend sessions focused on NASA technology needs, the James Webb Space Telescope, mirror technology, metrology technology and precision optics success stories.

During Day 2 of the technical program and exhibition, attend sessions focused on metrology technology, X-ray mirror technology, coating technology, coronagraphy, the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) and the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. 

*The Roman Space Telescope sessions are CLOSED sessions highlighting information that is Export or ITAR Controlled. Attendance for CLOSED sessions is restricted to US Citizens and Green Card Holders.

During Day 3 of the technical program and exhibition, attend sessions focused on the Segmented Mirror Telescope Program (SMTP) and other telescope technology. 

*Currently, all Thursday sessions are CLOSED sessions that highlight Export- or ITAR-Controlled information. Attendance for CLOSED sessions is restricted to US Citizens and Green Card Holders.
