L3Harris Commercial Aviation sector has entered into a significant licensing partnership with Flight Data Systems. This agreement enables Flight Data Systems to securely access and download data from the SRVIVR25 Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), Flight Data Recorder (FDR), and Combination Cockpit Voice Flight Data Recorder (CVFDR), all through their innovative Handheld Multipurpose Tool (HHMPI™).
As the first licensing arrangement for SRVIVR25 recorders, this collaboration underscores L3Harris’s dedication to enhancing accessibility and operational efficiency across the aviation industry.
Through this new partnership, Flight Data Systems’ HHMPI will include capabilities for efficient data extraction from SRVIVR25 recorders, streamlining maintenance workflows and minimizing aircraft downtime.
The SRVIVR25, a 25-hour cockpit voice recorder standard on all new Airbus platforms and widely retrofitted across airline fleets, is valued for its reliability and cutting-edge functionality.
Alan Crawford, President of L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions, said: “This collaboration reinforces our commitment to driving innovation and addressing the evolving needs of our customers. By enabling third-party integration with SRVIVR25 technology, we are fostering partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to the aviation industry through improved efficiency and operational performance.”
Ron Nye, Director of Aftermarket Services at L3Harris Commercial Aviation, highlighted the initiative's significance: “Providing access to our SRVIVR25 recorder technology through Flight Data Systems expands the tools available to maintenance teams worldwide. This integration simplifies operations, ensures compliance, and reduces costs, reflecting L3Harris’s commitment to supporting the industry.”
This licensing arrangement allows maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities, airlines, and operators to use the HHMPI for regulatory compliance checks and routine maintenance. Known for its versatility, the HHMPI supports multiple recorder manufacturers and ensures compliance through tailored cables, accessories, and software.
Shane LaPlante, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Flight Data Systems, added: “Partnering with L3Harris to expand the HHMPI’s capabilities marks an exciting step forward. This development meets industry demand for third-party access to SRVIVR25 recorders, enabling significant efficiency gains for airlines, MROs, and operators globally.”
