Four Ways L3Harris Targeting and Sensor Systems are Defining the Future of Land Missions

Eyes on Target

For land vehicles conducting reconnaissance or engaged in combat, a target must remain in clear view throughout the entire engagement. L3Harris EO/IR systems, such as the WESCAM MX™-10 RSTA and WESCAM MX™-GCS, employ a combination of passive damping and active motion cancellation features that are specifically designed for stability-intensive, on-the-move engagements. The advanced stabilization architecture isolates vibration and shock across the payload so that every internal device benefits from the same level of jitter suppression. This results in a smooth, stable, uncompromised line-of-sight high-definition image, with the highest accuracy at maximum target identification ranges.

Counter-UAS Response

Seeing is believing. Live-fire tests of WESCAM MX-Series systems integrated with counter-UAS mission platforms have resulted in high target identification accuracy. Multiple system components and software work together to seamlessly target, engage and destroy incoming UAS threats. Among those vital components is L3Harris’ laser glass, laser transmitters, illuminators, rangefinders and designators, which provide customers with exceptional performance. L3Harris’ manufacturing of specialty laser glass consistently meets the strictest standards and is qualified to perform in extreme conditions, where decisions on the battlefield can be affected by the quality of equipment. With manufacturing and assembly taking place in-house, from individual laser components to full sensor systems and payloads, L3Harris maintains full control over how these components are integrated, ruggedized and aligned to ensure successful counter-UAS performance.

This alignment is carried into the convergence of hardware and software – a capability realized in the land domain with the integration of our mission management software, Widow®, with the VAMPIRE™ system. WIDOW is pushing the boundaries of mission management. Its open architecture allows for complete customization, providing operators with unique options including integrating multiple feeds into one optimized display or combining multi-spectral video and informational feeds with satellite imagery, reference maps and terrain databases. This results in situational awareness and strategic advantages downrange, through tactical overlays, sensor integration, target tracking and workload optimization.
